Just a Day At The Zoo

Ethan visited the zoo for the first time and he loved it! We went to Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia with Aunt Liv and Uncle Tim on Saturday. We arrived right at the opening and thankfully we did - it started heating up around 11 AM! At the entrance there are these lion statues (as seen above) and Ethan immediately started pointing and kicking his legs. Ethan had a good time and he was a perfect angel! He was off his normal schedule that he has which is lunch at 11 and nap by 12, but didn't complain or fuss at all. He's such a trooper. We've been teaching him about animals and the noises they make by looking in books. He's picked up on a few animals but it clicked as soon as he as he saw the lions - he started roaring. It was so cute! He seemed to really like the tropical birds, alligator, penguins, zebras and turtles. He was a little scared of the giraffe but when we got the chance to feed them, he became interested. His entire hand was in the giraffe's mouth! It was a good day and I'm glad he enjoyed himself. I can't wait to take him back when it's not so hot and he has learned a little more about animals.

Feeding the giraffe

This is his new face lately - we call it the "Stank Face". Usually he scrunches up his nose too :)

Happy First Birthday to the lion cubs!
