Pros and Cons on Having Your Birthday On Christmas

As you all know, Ethan's 1st birthday is coming up. In nine days as a matter of fact! As this milestone day approaches, I've been thinking about the big day and how to celebrate. On any other normal birthday, it wouldn't be such a hard thing to decide on, but his birthday just happens to fall on Christmas Day, so there's a lot to consider. It's got me thinking about the pros and cons of having your birthday on Christmas.

PROS

• You'll always be surrounded by loved ones.
• You'll always have good grub and LOTS of sweets to eat.
• You share a birthday with the coolest person ever, Jesus Christ.
• You can have a half-birthday party in June AND on or around your actual birthday in December.
• You'll get gifts on your actual birthday and half-birthday as well.
• You'll always have the day off from school or work.

CONS

• Eventually, you will receive the "combo" gifts - both birthday and Christmas. Not EVER from your parents though. I can promise that!
• On the first Christmas, it's hard to determine if it's really your FIRST Christmas or SECOND, since you were born on that day.
• You won't ever really feel like it's YOUR day since there is so much going on. Like in Sixteen Candles.
• You won't really be able to have a party on the actual day, but on a week before more than likely because all your friends are celebrating Christmas with their families.
• Even though your friends are out of school because of the holidays, they're more than likely out of town visiting their own families.

Ethan - let's hope there is more pros than cons as the years go by. That's such a special day that we don't ever want to forget the meaning of Christmas or the day you were brought into this world for us to love and watch grow in a fine young man!
